The Dispute Mediation Service (DMS) is a non-profit organization that offers a 30-hour family mediation training course to the public annually. The course involves a combination of lecture, readings, and participation in role-playing exercises, and should follow the 40-hour basic mediation training. The training is designed to meet the standards set by Chapter 154, Texas Civil Practices and Remedies Code and the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable. 4 hours outside reading required.
Dates: April 25, 26 and May 2, 3, 2008
Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM each day
Training Fee: The fee is $600. Class size is limited and is filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Late registrations will be accepted on a space available basis. Your check secures your place.
Attendance/Certificates of Completion: Participants will receive certificates stating the number of hours completed. Attendance for 30 hours meets the standards of the Chapter 154, Texas Civil Practice and Procedures Code. Trainees are eligible to enroll in the DMS Practicum and serve as a DMS volunteer.
Cancellations: Your fee will be refunded less a $50 administrative fee. No refunds are available after the cancellation cut-off date. You may cancel your training up to two weeks prior to the beginning date and receive a refund of the amount paid except for a $50 administrative fee.
Continuing Education Credits: MCLE credits are approved for 18 participatory hours including 1 hour ethics. If you have other accreditation needs, please contact DMS prior to the training.
Location: All sessions are held at the Center for Community Cooperation, 2900 Live Oak Street, Dallas, Texas 75204.
