The Dispute Mediation Service (DMS) is a non-profit organization that offers a 40-Hour basic mediation course to the public annually. The course is designed to give individuals skills needed to serve as a neutral, third party mediator. This training involves not only reading and lecture, but skills demonstrations and active participation in role-plays by the trainees. It meets the standards set by Chapter 154, Texas Civil Practices & Remedies Code and the Mediation Trainers Roundtable. 5 hours outside reading required.

Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day
Training Fee: The fee is $700. The class is limited to 36 participants, and is filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The fee is due 30 days prior to the beginning of training. Your check secures your place.
Attendance/Certificates of Completion: Training participants will receive certificates stating the number of hours completed. Attendance for the full 40 hours meets the standards of Chapter 154, Texas Civil Practices & Remedies Code. A practicum offering experience will be available to you as part of this training.
Cancellations: Your fee will be refunded less a $50 administrative fee. No refunds are available after the cancellation cut-off date which is 2 weeks before the first day of class. You may cancel your training up to two weeks prior to the beginning date and receive a refund of the amount paid except for a $50 administrative fee.
Continuing Education Credits: TCLOSE, LMFT, LMSW, AND LPC credits are available. MCLE credits are approved for 28.5 participatory hours including 1 hour ethics. TX State Board of Accountancy DMS sponsor #6990

Trainer: Nancy K. Ferrell, Ph. D., an experienced trainer, mediator, and community relations specialist, is the lead trainer.
